I had hoped to keep posting at a more regular rate but it's been a bad news week here so making art is the furthest thing from my mind right now. This is an old sketch done with a Cretacolor Nero Pencil some time ago.
P.S. Thought I had better pop back here just to say that I am ok ...

When Wendy Sharpe visited Paris last year she attended an auction at the Folies Bergere where they were auctioning off costumes and props of yesteryear. Wendy bought some of the headresses and costumes worn by the showgirls of the past. The headresses had the name 'Francine' handwritten on the inside. Wendy chose Sarah (my daughter above) to sit for the paintings of Francine. There are five paintings of Francine altogether. This one is called 'Sarah as Francine with Ostrich Feathers'. We did a google search for Francine and may have found her - a showgirl in 1951 at the Folies Bergere.

A little bit of fiddling about by me today. I became quite ill in August and am trying to get back on my feet again. This is just a quickie .. I wanted to experiment with oil sticks and some sort of drawing media. For this one I used an old red Oil Stick which I think was past it's use by date and a woodless graphite pencil. I used Como paper for this which is probably the wrong thing to use with oil sticks - it's a heavy duty drawing paper. Looks like it should be in a children's book! I am considering buying some new oil sticks and experimenting further.
