This is a very old drawing of Anita .. done about eight years ago. I found her recently hiding in a long forgotten file. Just as well I keep finding these things as they come in handy when times are slow here. Taking one step forward and three back these days .. so progress is slow on the art-making front. Looks like pastel pencil on either Canson or Fabriano pastel paper .. size is about 20cm x 14cm I think.

A rather quick sketch tonight ... inspired by the John Galliano fall fashion show 2007 where the models had those little heart shaped lips painted on. This is 'not' a copy of one of his models .. just have wanted to use those lips for some time. This one started out as a generic red head but turned into a brunette during the process. Most of my drawings are done to the accompaniment of music .. I used to be able to look at a drawing and remember what music I drew it to. There have been so many now that I have lost track of most of them. However, this one was drawn to 'All Through The Night' by Cyndi Lauper.

Tonights drawing is The Big Red Coat which is a revision of a previous drawing done months ago which I quite liked but the opinion of others here stopped me from posting it anywhere. They said the composition is bad and her face is a bit crooked etc. So tonight I drew this one from the much maligned original. I was not going to post this one either as I still liked the first one better. But after giving it a second glance I decided to put it here. I just love black and red together .. have you noticed? lol Pastel Pencil, Conte sticks and a bit of pastel on Fabriano pastel paper. Approx. 5 1/2 x 7 inches

This is not the first drawing that I did this evening .. the first one was very 'careful' and way too neat. After a stressfull week with two sick ponies and a hefty bill from the Equine Vet .. I wanted to relax this evening and do a drawing. After spending quite some time doing a drawing which I hated I decided to scrap it and do a quick one that was more to my liking. This is a drawing of Nicole which looks ... 'not much like her' .. lol In the first one I wanted to capture her lovely smile .. and I did! ... It's not evident in this one but I did enjoy belting it out super quick with the help of a glass of wine. ;) Mostly pastel pencil and some conte sticks on Fabriano Tiziano Pastel Paper. Size approx. 8"x 10"

Still no new work from me so just posting some preliminary sketches done previously. Some of these didn't make it to the finish mark and hit the bin sometime during the process. I don't seem to have a finished drawing for this one .. 'Reclining'. This is how I start all my drawings with a brief sketchy outline to make a starting point before adding pastel or pastel pencil. All are on Fabriano Tiziano Pastel Paper.
This one made it to the finish line 'Ponytail' .. and is somewhere on this blog. I always start off lightly - some of these may have been darkened a bit before posting so just imagine them a bit lighter. Hopefully, I will get busy with drawing again before long .. just trying to build up my iron stores as I've been a bit wobbly.

Just posting some old sketches that I did a few years ago when doing a printmaking course at Tafe. I came across these drawings in an old file. The first one is a thumbnail design of some lillies which I designed myself after some fiddling about.
I printed off some copies so that I could experiment with colours as we were expected to make some of the prints with colour.
This is one of the finished prints made from the aluminium plate.

This is a re-vamp of a previous drawing .. just been looking in my box of small drawings and can see some that need tweaking here and there. Not sure if there should be a hint of a knee showing there on the right. I'm feeling more like drawing these days .. just waiting until I can find a quiet time for it.

Another old Still Life drawing from the past. I had forgotten about this one .. I quite like the shiny look I managed to get on the jug and the distorted shadow on the wall but I wonder why there is no shadow behind the mandarin!!
